Self Catering Holidays in France

The Dordogne region in France is one of the most culturally rich in the country, boasting stunning scenery and great food, in addition to being the home of the must-see UNESCO World Heritage Site the Lascaux Caves. Self catering holidays are a perfect way to enjoy this region as they provide for a laid-back holiday itinerary that can be tailored to fit in with new plans.

These properties sleep anywhere from just two to a number of bedrooms for larger groups, and often have outdoor eating areas as well as pools. The amazing cave complex at Lascaux Caves is thought to be some 17,000 years old, and is beautifully adorned with ancient prehistoric drawings and paintings. Many of these paintings show images of the animals that lived in the region at the time and several have been restored to their original glory. The caves are found near the settlement of Montignac, on the Vezere River.
